Farewell, Charlie!

Charlie Walter is following his heart to California.  We are very happy for him, but we will miss his friendship, humor, and fine musicianship!IMG_2426

We were delighted to see Patricia Stone at our June 20th rehearsal, and we managed to get a photo of the whole band!

After the rehearsal, Susan and Les Hoffman hosted a noon party for the group and Les treated us to a preview of two songs that he later performed for Make Music Madison on the 21st.

Many Thanks, Patricia!

Our organization’s founder, Patricia Stone, has decided to step down from the leadership role she has performed for 4-1/2 years.  She began the group as a small jam session for retired folks who, like her, love to play music.  She guided the group through its evolution from a small jam session to a more organized Dixieland band that plays several gigs each year.  We are all grateful for Patricia’s support and wish her all the best as she takes on new challenges.

Niemeyer Anniversary – August 16, 2012

During our regular rehearsal on August 16 we took a little time to share in Ken and Vivian’s celebration of 50 years of marriage.  Ken played Stardust and Our Love Is Here to Stay on his trumpet before dancing the Anniversary Waltz with Vivian.  Afterward we enjoyed a pot luck buffet and chocolate cake.
